Eugene Jang
Ph.D. in Communication

Eugene Jang is an incoming Assistant Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology, starting in Fall 2025. She recently earned her PhD from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California. She was also funded as a Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS) fellow during her doctoral studies. Prior to USC, she completed her BA and MA in Communication at Seoul National University.
Her research interests span health communication, digital and social media, artificial intelligence (AI), science and technology studies (STS), social network analysis, and computational social science. She employs a mixed methods approach that integrates computational and qualitative analyses. Her dissertation examined social support dynamics across social media platforms using social network analysis. She is also interested in exploring how AI can be used to advance health and social equity.
